League reservations for the use of soccer fields and volleyball courts may be made at any time during the year on a first-come, first served basis, and must be made and paid in full at least one week prior to the requested date of play (credit card payments are accepted). Reservations unpaid one week before the date of play may result in cancellation. Piedmont Park Conservancy will issue applicants a Park Permit which must be brought to the park on all reserved play dates.

League reservations for the use of softball fields are determined by lottery. Please see “Softball Fields” below. Applicants have fourteen days from the date of notification to submit all required fees. Reservations not paid within fourteen days may result in cancellation.

PPC manages and schedules league play for the Active Oval but does not currently organize leagues. For more information on leagues currently reserving fields at Piedmont Park, please contact programs@piedmontpark.org.

Softball:
Due to the heavy volume of requests for league play on the Active Oval softball fields, league play reservations for the use of softball fields will be determined by lotteries.

The 2008 League Play Lotteries are complete. The next scheduled lottery will be held on February 12th, 2009 for the Spring 2009 season. Please check back for details. If you would like to reserve a softball field in the meantime, please fax your application to the number above and you will be contacted regarding availability.

You or your representative must be present in order to participate in the lottery. The deadline for submitting a League Reservation Application for softball league play is 5pm one week before the date of the lottery.

Upon completion of the lottery, Piedmont Park Conservancy will notify applicants of the dates and times awarded, fees and due dates. Applicants have fourteen days from the date of notification to submit all required fees. PPC will issue applicants a Park Permit which must be brought to the park on all reserved play dates. Failure to submit fees in a timely manner may result in forfeiture of the reservation.

Damage Deposits: Piedmont Park Conservancy will collect damage deposits (when reservations are made) equal to 25% of the total user fee. Such deposits may or may not cover the costs of repairing damage to the Active Oval or Piedmont Park attributable to the reserving party. In this case, additional assessments may also be invoiced to the reserving party to recover repair costs. To the extent not needed for damage repairs, Damage Deposits will be refunded within 30 business days after all reserved time as originally invoiced has been completed.

Refunds/Cancellations: To receive a refund or credit for cancellations, the reserving party must give written notification (email acceptable) to Piedmont Park Conservancy at least fourteen days in advance of the reserved date. PPC will process a refund or credit within 30 business days after all reserved/league play or tournament play as originally invoiced has been completed.

Please remember that no person shall play, practice or otherwise participate in any game, sport or other recreational activity except at or upon places designated for that game, sport or recreational activity. Ball fields may occasionally be unavailable to help prevent overuse and to allow for maintenance. Piedmont Park Conservancy and/or the Commissioner, Office of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs, City of Atlanta also reserves the right to cancel any activities in an athletic field during severe weather or inclement weather when it is determined that conditions may cause harm to participants, damage to the field, interfere with maintenance, activities/repairs or other city issues/emergencies that could cause a conflict.

Historical Note
The ball fields are located in the Active Oval section of the park, which was originally carved out of the hillside to create a horse racetrack in 1887.
