The Piedmont Park Conservancy celebrated its 35th Anniversary in 2024. In addition to marking this milestone, we undertook an ambitious and comprehensive planning effort driven by the surrounding community and the park’s many user-groups. This plan centers on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to add new acreage and green space to the park while re-envisioning all of the park’s 200+ acres to ensure it remains a local and regional treasure for decades to come.
During our anniversary year we also undertook nearly $3 million in park improvements and enhancements to better the park for now and the future. The Conservancy also deepened its partnership with the City of Atlanta by taking on more of the regular maintenance and landscaping functions across the park.
The 35th Anniversary Appeal celebrates the legacy of the Piedmont Park Conservancy while helping us recommit to the park we all love and plan for its bright future as Atlanta’s beating green heart for generations to come.
Through the 35th Anniversary Appeal, the Piedmont Park Conservancy has implemented several park improvement and beautification projects, including:
• conducting and completing a new Comprehensive Plan for Piedmont Park,
• undertaking and completing a new strategic plan for the Conservancy,
• restoring the pool and aquatic center,
• conducting a comprehensive tree inventory and health study of over 3,500 trees,
• beautifying all park entrances and key planting beds across the park,
• updating and re-platforming the Conservancy’s IT platform and systems, and
• repairing and painting park railings.
Work will continue through the end of 2025 and into early 2026 with several key projects yet to be completed such as adding track-level lighting around the Active Oval and restoring Legacy Fountain. The City of Atlanta has been a significant partner in completing additional projects including repaving key paths and roads, improving drainage in the Meadow, and replacing fire and security panels in key buildings.
Beyond direct improvements, the campaign has served as a powerful tool to raise awareness and deepen public understanding of the Conservancy’s vital role in preserving, protecting, and enhancing Atlanta’s most visited park.
Our sincere thanks to our generous 35th Anniversary Appeal donors who made this transformational work possible!
