Creating Community Through Art

Creativity begins with inspiration. Sometimes that inspiration comes from a new place, a fascinating idea, or simply the opportunity to try something you have never done before. We believe Piedmont Park is naturally inspiring, and work to design programs where Park users can explore new art skills in approachable ways. We also work hand in hand with Atlanta creatives to make these events come to life.
Intentionally building partnerships with local artists and educators has been a priority for us behind the scenes. When we began piloting adult art education programs in 2023, we wanted to create a model that could support the artists who make Atlanta vibrant—all while giving our community new ways to learn, create, and connect. Through programming at the Park, artists are able to expand their reach and share their craft with new audiences, while participants get the opportunity to learn from local makers. Program profits go directly back to the educators, with a small portion supporting the Conservancy.
Since 2023, we have welcomed 587 participants into art education experiences ranging from block printing, sun printing, and bookmaking to terrarium building, silk scarf painting, guided painting, hand embroidery, polymer clay art, and painted pet portraits. Each program is a small part of a larger idea: when we support artists, we support our community. And strong communities always include a creative lens, and new ways of seeing the world around us.
