Piedmont Park is Atlanta’s most visited attraction with several sights to see. From a rich history that goes back to the 1800s to breathtaking skylines, picnic spots and off-leash dog parks, there’s plenty to discover as you stroll through the Park. The Conservancy and its partners offer tours of Piedmont Park on a range of topics.

Tour Information

The Piedmont Park History Walking Tours include an introduction to the Park’s vibrant past and present. Walk with us and discover how Piedmont Park’s rich history is undeniably intertwined with the development of Atlanta. Together, we’ll explore the fascinating historical and physical evolution of iconic Piedmont Park from forest to farm to fairgrounds for the Piedmont Exposition of 1887 and the Cotton States and International Exposition of 1895, to Atlanta’s premier urban green space.

  • Led by docent volunteers
  • Free and open to all ages – *Please note that reservations are required- sign up here. History tours are available on a first come, first serve basis.
  • Saturdays, starting March 5 (Some blackout dates occur, check calendar)
  • Meet promptly at 10 am; 60 – 90 minutes in length
  • Meet at Green Market and Conservancy information table located at 12th St. and Piedmont Ave. NE Park entrance

If you have a larger group of 15 or more, we recommend that you contact our office well in advance (during office hours, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm) to make sure that we have enough docents lined up for the tour.
